Nine teams in NCHL for 2017-18

The Shoal Lake Eagles were accepted into the North Central Hockey League at the fall meeting held in Russell on Sunday, Oct. 1.

The other eight teams from last season – Foxwarren Falcons, Grandview Comets, Miniota-Elkhorn C-Hawks, Moosomin Rangers, Rivers Jets, Russell Rams, Swan Valley Axemen and Virden Oil Kings – will return.

The league will consist of one division with each team playing a home-and-home series against each of the other teams for a 16-game schedule.

The entire executive from last season returned: President/Commissioner Wendel Reimer, 1st Vice-President Rick Brethour, 2nd Vice-President Brent Fortune, Secxretary-Treasurer Linda Thomson, Referee-in-Chief Randy Kalynuk and Statistician Greg Nesbitt.

The league schedule will be released in late October or early November, but it is expected league play will begin the second week of November.
